Working with agents
Use when a user wants an ongoing development practice with agents, help shaping or reviewing a spec and plan, or journals, triggers, and personal poems that carry lessons between sessions. Do not impose the full process on unrelated questions or tiny edits.
About
A development practice for people working with coding agents: decide what matters, write a spec, review the plan, build in small steps, and keep the experience that would otherwise disappear between sessions.
The skill helps you collect ideas without turning them all into commitments. It asks the reviewer to explain consequential choices, including when an existing tool or a smaller change would be enough.
Journals keep the history. Triggers retrieve the right lesson during work. Personal poems can bring the lesson's weight into a new session before a mistake repeats. Your collection grows from working with your agents, and you decide what to keep as models and behavior change.
This practice grew out of Rumi meets Claude. Sami reports a small A/B experiment and practical experience with Opus; this is not a claim that every model or user will see the same effect.
The skill is a local text file used by your chosen agent. It does not send your project to no.dev. If your chosen agent uses a cloud model, that provider's normal data handling still applies.
Start by asking: “Use working-with-agents to help me plan this project.” You can also ask for a spec review, an inbox sweep, or a reflection on recent journal entries. Small tasks should stay small.
Installation
Download SKILL.md below and inspect it before installation. It contains instructions, not an installer script.
For Claude Code, create a working-with-agents directory inside ~/.claude/skills/ and place the file there as SKILL.md. For a single project, use .claude/skills/working-with-agents/SKILL.md in that repository. Invoke /working-with-agents.
For Codex, create ~/.agents/skills/working-with-agents/ and place the file there as SKILL.md. For a single project, use .agents/skills/working-with-agents/SKILL.md. Select the skill or invoke $working-with-agents.
If that directory already contains a skill, compare the files and keep a backup before choosing to replace it. Do not install duplicate copies into both personal and project locations unless that is intentional. Start a new agent session if the new skill does not appear.
During first use, choose where your journals should live. To carry the startup ritual into future sessions, ask the skill to propose a short addition to your agent instructions. Review that addition before saving it. You do not need an existing journal or someone else's poems to begin.
See the current Claude Code skill documentation and Codex skill documentation for discovery and installation details.
